How about a giveaway??

I have a few items I've been hoarding for future giveaways, but the future is. . . . . . TOMORROW! er, Monday. It is the beginning of a few (more then two, most likely less than ten ;) giveaways/fundraisers to raise money for the Gleaning the Harvest families.

So, I am cleaning up a few "bloggy" things, creating an indulgently pointless facebook page, making a badge and adding a Twitter account.

Clearly, I plan things out ahead of time.

So, until then. . .

just a sampling

It has been a while since I have posted on here. I have felt I have had very little advice to offer or tidbits of wisdom to share. Our homeschooling journey this year has been quite interesting, replete with many many failures and Elohim's blessings. My worldview has changed, and stepping out in faith to homeschool felt like quite a catalyst. Having to choose what to "teach" my children, deciding how to train them in a way that is tolerable for all of us {since we now spend a majority of time with eachother}, and knowing that I have a duty to not only the Lord, my boys, husband and myself, but to their future wives, children, employers/coworkers, and friends, is a frightening and humbling experience.

Luckily, there are many godly mothers {and fathers, and children} who DO have wonderful wisdom from which we can glean, as well as some fabulous resources offering their services freely or cheaply. Here is just a sampling:

Paperback Swap {dot} com-- List books you currently have in your home. Search other users' books. Earn credits each time you swap a book which you can use to purchase other books. Sellers pay shipping costs {books are shipped media mail, which is quite cheap}.

I have found old McGuffey's Readers, Singapore Math books, Usborne books, vintage comics and unique cookbooks, among other great titles.

Donna Young-- every imaginable form for household, school, finance management, you can find here for free

Heart of the Matter-- An online community for Christian homeschoolers. You will find articles here on everything from Biblical mothering to choosing a curriculum to giveaways.

The Homeschool Lounge-- A 12,000 plus member community. There are various forums and groups to suit many different homeschooling lifestyles.

What are your favorite homeschooling sites???
